THE WILLARD STREET APARTMENTS TEAM
OVERVIEW Willard Street Apartments includes four-stories of wood-framed apartments over two stories of concrete podium. The construction of this affordable housing community provides 82 spacious units with stainless steel appliances and beautiful views of downtown Durham. Residents have easy access to public transportation and are walking distance from many of the city’s best attractions. The podium provides 124 parking spaces and 5,000 SF of retail space, which has been converted into a dental clinic. An elevated amenity plaza overlooks the city, with a playground, grilling area, and covered picnic area. Just inside is a large workout room with floor-to-ceiling windows. Another community space available to residents is a lounge with couches, television, seating areas, and a full kitchen. The large windows in the workout room and lounge face the plaza and the Durham skyline.

Overview of Ledgewood Village Apartments project
IMPACT In 2019, the voters of the City of Durham voted overwhelmingly in support of a $95 million Affordable Housing bond. The plan includes the construction of 1,600 new affordable housing units and preservation of 800 existing affordable rental units. Willard Street Apartments not only honors that commitment, adding 82 new units of affordable housing construction between 30% and 60% AMI, it also provides a building that adds to the ambiance of the downtown area. A local artist provided a mural over six stucco frames along the east side of the building, and the interior hallways are decorated with photos that celebrate the rich history of Durham. Willard Street Apartments is located in the heart of downtown, only a couple blocks from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and the American Tobacco Campus.
