THE GALLOWAY RIDGE TEAM
Working on a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) campus, especially in such close proximity to existing occupied spaces, required
a specialized team of people familiar with their specific needs and culture.
OVERVIEW
WEAVERCOOKE provided preconstruction and construction services for the
Galloway Ridge Memory Care facility expansion project. This wide-ranging
scope of work included their lobby and mailroom renovation and memory care
expansion of nine memory care units, as well as the addition of a small nursing
station, a life enrichment office, outdoor courtyard and sunroom.
Both projects required partial closures and temporary barriers to keep
residents safe while construction was underway. For the independent living
facility, our team provided viewing areas where residents could keep up to
date on construction progress. Our team also communicated proactively with
residents and the facility’s nursing and building staff to minimize disruptions
to residents’ daily lives.

IMPACT
Galloway Ridge is growing, with a continuous need for more
resources and facilities to help the residents of today and tomorrow.
When residents first enter Galloway Ridge, they begin their stay in
the independent living cottages. If they end up needing memory care,
it’s critical that Galloway Ridge has the space to accommodate those
needs so that their residents can continue to age in place, surrounded
by their community and friends. When we began construction of this
project, Galloway Ridge only had two units available in their existing
memory care facility, and four of the beds were already reserved
when we finished.
Galloway Ridge’s memory care facility is home to a life enrichment
coordinator, who only had a small, temporary space before
renovations. Afterwards, they had their own office from which to
deliver their much-needed expertise.
The independent living lobby was originally built in the 1990’s, and it
was not included in the 2012 campus-wide renovations and
expansions. WEAVERCOOKE modernized this space with LVT floors,
modern wall coverings and energy efficient LED lighting.
