OVERVIEW In 1996 the development arm of WEAVERCOOKE Construction became a separate company. Weaver-Kirkland Housing, LLC is a for-profit company whose primary purpose is providing safe, decent and affordable housing for low-income families and the elderly. The Company’s focus has been the utilization of The Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, HOME funding and USDA Rural Development Section 515 funding.
OUR PORTFOLIO Our experience and expertise in packaging and facilitating funding for affordable housing projects has made us successful in obtaining funding for and placing in our portfolio, since 1996, 19 developments with a total of 700 affordable units, with two additional developments funded recently in 2012, for a total of 21 developments and 796 units in our portfolio by 2014.
EXPERTISE IN THE CAROLINAS Concentrating their efforts over the past several years in the Carolinas, Weaver-Kirkland is very familiar with the funding programs in these states and the rules and regulations governing them. Their excellent good rapport and strong working relationships with the agencies involved, on local and state levels, makes them a premier choice for affordable housing development projects in North and South Carolina.
EXAMPLE PROJECTS Weaver-Kirkland Housing, LLC has been involved as co-partner on a 264 unit mixed-income tax-exempt bond development in Raleigh, North Carolina (The Overlooke at Simms Creek with 194 market rate and 70 LIHTC units). They also co-partnered on a 150 unit two-phase HOPE VI project located in Greensboro, North Carolina (The Villas at Willow Oaks – 40 Senior units, and The Townhomes at Willow Oaks – 110 family units).
