| Weaver
Cooke has made an unprecedented commitment to
becoming the industry's leader in sustainable construction.
We have embraced green building as part of our corporate culture and have worked hard to build a solid foundation of expertise in green building techniques. At Weaver Cooke, we believe that it is our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment.
Weaver Cooke strives to incorporate sustainable construction techniques in all of our projects in order to provide our clients with the most healthy, cost-effective, and energy-efficient building possible. To that end, we have developed several relationships that allow us to better address our clients’ environmental needs:
- Advanced Energy– The region's
leading authority on sustainable materials and construction
practices, Advanced Energy reviews the initial plans
for selected Weaver Cooke projects….at our expense.
The firm then makes suggestions for alternative materials,
systems or procedures that will increase the facility’s
sustainability.
- U.S. Green Building Council‚ The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation's foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.
- Center for the Environment ‚ Weaver
Cooke has aligned with the Center for the Environment
at Catawba College to provide sustainable educational programming.
- North Carolina Sustainable Business Council, Sustainable North Carolina - Sustainable North Carolina (SNC) is a nonprofit focused on promoting and enabling practices that optimize economics, communities and natural systems. Founded in 1998 as Save Our State, the organization started as a moderate voice working with the business community, policymakers, farmers, environmentalists and concerned citizens to develop practical solutions to environmental issues..
- LEED‚ The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Members of the U.S. Green Building Council representing all segments of the building industry developed LEED and continue to contribute to its evolution. Weaver Cooke has LEED (Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals on staff.
In addition, Weaver Cooke employs a full-time Director of Sustainable Construction to oversee our LEED projects, develop training programs in sustainable construction for our employees, and further develop our environmental policies and procedures.
To further illustrate Weaver Cooke’s commitment to green building principles, Weaver Cooke constructed a new headquarters for ourselves following LEED guidelines.
