Weaver Cooke completed this new 50-unit, 4-story apartment building in downtown Asheville. The 48,998 square foot facility provides 50-units of affordable housing. The units are comprised of 15 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom apartments. In addition, 15 efficiency apartments, which are designated for homeless individuals, are also included.

Additional features include a management office, supportive service office, community room, landscaped courtyard, small play ground, and coin laundry.

During the preconstruction phase of this project Advanced Energy reviewed the plans for The Griffin and made recommendations to the owner to increase the sustainability of the new facility. The owner opted to participate in Advanced Energy's SystemVision program. This program provides sustainability standards to follow during construction that address items such as House Air-Tightness; Heating, Cooling, and Water Efficiency; and Insulation to name a few. Once constructed per the SystemVision standards, the owners benefit from the SystemVision Guarantee, which assures the homeowner that for a two year period the energy used to heat and cool the home will not exceed a specified amount and the temperature in the center of any conditioned room will not vary more than three degrees from the thermostat setting. If these conditions aren't met, Advanced Energy picks up the tab for the energy cost overrun and for identifying problems with the original equipment or construction.
