Weaver Cooke was selected to provide Preconstruction and Construction Services for two new residence hall buildings at Warren Wilson College. The project was designed and developed by Performa, Inc.

The residence halls encompass a total of 30,409 square feet. The first building is 3-stories with 44 student beds and a two-bedroom building manager apartment. The second is 2-stories and provides housing for 36 students. Both residence halls are wood-frame structures with siding and stone veneer exterior.

The project was constructed following Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines with a goal of achieving a Silver Level LEED Certification. Village North and Village South have achieved LEED® Gold certification.

Sustainable features include:

• Incorporation of Solar Passive Design, including use of light shelves
• Window shading devices
• Building orientation and central ventilation shafts
• Water-use reduction devices and water efficient landscaping
• Recycled, low-emission materials
• Use of Certified Wood (wood that meets Forest Stewardship Council guidelines)
• In-floor radiant space heating system.
